Mother’s Day card

When my kids make cards for me, they always draw lots of hearts, so I decided to put lots of hearts on this Mother’s Day card too. I started by die cutting a Limitless Layer Heart and stamping it with a heart from You Are Loved using Aqua Mist ink. A sentiment from Fillable Frames #4 finishes off that piece.

The weekly Papertrey Ink heat embossing challenges have put me in a heat embossing mood, so I die cut a notched panel using Aqua Mist cardstock and stamped hearts from You Are Loved and XOXO using Versamark ink, then heat embossed them in silver.

I wanted to add an extra touch to one heart with even more heat embossing. I’ve never tried embossing on top of embossing, so here was the perfect opportunity. I stamped “I Love You” from Strawberry Patch Sentiments (such a versatile set!) in black ink and heat embossed it with clear powder. The words didn’t turn out as dark as I’d hoped but at least you can still see them. Next time I will try black embossing powder instead.

A “Melissa Phillips inspired” bow using seam binding ribbon finishes off the card.
