Happy Easter card

Sometimes I wish I had a dedicated craft room - just kidding, I wish for it all the time! But since I have limited craft space in real life, I try to buy versatile stamps and dies to cover all kinds of occasions. Once in a while though, I find myself without the supplies I need. For the latest Papertrey Ink challenge from Melissa's Fab Friday, I did not have any Easter sentiments (I do have Passover stamps from the Mazel Tov set, though.) However, I enjoy finding creative workarounds using what I have.

I decided to make a "Happy Easter" card. I started off with a die that I haven't used in a very long time, Phrase Play #5. I just love the fun "Happy" script on this die! To give the card an Easter feel, I stamped the bunny from Fence Line: Spring in pastel colors along the bottom of the panel.

I wanted my letters for "Easter" to have a colorful background, so I inked a piece of watercolor paper with the same colors that I used for the bunnies. Then I stamped a few words from the Papertrey Ink XOXO stamp set (ALWAYS, FOREVER and VALENTINE) and cut out the letters I needed to spell out "Easter".

I wanted more color on the card, so I glued the Happy panel to a piece of Sparkle & Shine patterned paper. To make the "Happy" stand out better against the blue background, I put vellum behind the circle.

I still wanted more interest to the card, so I cut out the patterned paper with a stitched die from Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical, then made a white scalloped base from the same set.
